New Delhi, March 13 (Agency) On its first day of collection and ‘The Kashmir Files’ has already surpassed expectations, doing great business, earning Rs 3.5 crores. Receiving unanimously great reviews from audiences, the film has been aired in over 700 theatres across the country and has earned over Rs 8.5 crores on its second day, totalling over Rs 12.05 crores at the box office. The film has even been declared tax free in certain states such as Madhya Pradesh and Haryana. According to a report of Box Office India, “The Kashmir Files has shown growth of over 100% which is phenomenal and the opening was pretty good as well. Mumbai, Delhi and East Punjab lead but slowly the film is pushing in other areas as well and the screen count is going higher.”
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh also tweeted, “#TheKashmirFiles is SENSATIONAL, biz more than doubles on Day 2… Registers 139.44% growth, HIGHEST EVER GROWTH [Day 2] since 2020… East, West, North, South, #BO is on… This film is UNSTOPPABLE… Fri 3.55 cr, Sat 8.50 cr. Total: 12.05 cr. #India biz… FANTASTIC!” In an unexpected twist, in spite of its limited release and not sporting much of a mainstream commercial cast “The Kashmir Files” has been the go to film for many movie goers and has gone house full in spite of many big budget Bollywood flicks running in theatres like ‘Radhe Shyam’ and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ thanks to good word of mouth and the topic it is dealing with.
Furthermore, in a matter of great pride for the film, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself appreciated the film congratulating director Vivek Agnihotri, his wife and actress Pallavi Joshi and producer Abhishek Agarwal for their extremely daring and passionate venture in an extremely rare occurrence for any film. “The Kashmir Files” tells an unapologetic tale of the Kashmiri Hindu genocide and is directed by Vivek Agnihotri and co produced by Vivek Agnihotri, Pallavi Joshi, Abhishek Agarwal and Tej Narayan Agarwal. The film stars Anumpam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, Chinmay Mandlekar, Prakash Belawadi, Puneet Issar, Atul Srivastava and Bhasha Sumbli. The movie was released on Friday 11th March.
