Bhubaneswar, Mar 9 (Representative) Sleuths of Odisha Vigilance on Wednesday unearthed assets worth over Rs seven crore during the house search of an Executive Engineer Rural Works (electrical) Division of Berhampur. The assets unearthed included three palatial buildings, 12 plots, two SUVs and three two wheelers. On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income, simultaneous house searches have been launched on the properties of Executive Engineer Jagannath Sethy, at five places in Khordha and Ganjam district by five teams of Vigilance department led by one Additional SP, four DSPs, ten Inspectors and other staff.
During house searches so far, movable and immovable assets worth over Rs.7 Crores have been unearthed in the name of Jagannath Sethy and his family members. The vigilance teams unearthed one five storied building at Gajapati Nagar, Berhampur worth about Rs.1.68 crore, one four storied building at AIIMS Nagar, Bhubaneswar worth about Rs.1.5 crore . However, the Technical Wing of Odisha, Vigilance will carry out a detailed assessment of its value, which may increase further, Vigilance sources said.The actual value is likely to be much higher as the undervaluation of the plots during registration is suspected. A thorough probe has been initiated in this regard. In addition to it, Bank deposits in the name of Sethy and his family members worth over Rs 85 Lakhs. Two four wheelers worth Rs.25 Lakhs. Rs.19,88,790 in cash, 3 two wheelers worth Rs.2,77,163 lakhs. Gold jewellery and household articles were also unearthed. Further searches are continuing and the enquiry is in progress, Vigilance department sources said.
