New Delhi, March 8 (Agency) Elden Ring’s success and popularity has continued to soar to ever increasing heights, overtaking New World in its second week on the market and becoming the sixth highest selling game on Steam. Per SteamDB data, Elden Ring’s peak concurrent users currently stand at 953,426, with a weekend surge pushing it past New World’s 913,634 placing Cyberpunk 2077 , Dota 2, CS: GO, Lost Ark, and finally PUBG: Battlegrounds respectively ahead of the game as Steam’s most popular games of all time by concurrent users. At its launch alone there were over 764,000 concurrent players which is almost six times the amount as Dark Souls III ever managed to achieve signifying just what a massive success Elden Ring appears to have been.
However, the reception to the game has not been so strong with it receiving a mixed score on PC due to a number of issues such as multiple crashes, bugs, screen tearing, stuttering, massive drop in frame rates etc. The game has begun receiving multiple patches since then relieving the issue, but performance across all versions remains somewhat of a soar thumb. Elden Ring’s UK release was the biggest launch for a game other than FIFA or Call of Duty since Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. According to digital and physical GSD sales data published on GamesIndustry.biz, FromSoftware’s latest entry into the gaming world has sold over twice as much as Horizon Forbidden West, even outselling huge launches from last year such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
