Hindu Mahila Sabha honours women for their remarkable societal work

Pune, March 7 ( FN Agency) On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Hindu Mahila Sabha, Pune on Monday felicitated and honoured the work of several women who have made remarkable achievements in various fields in a program called ‘Anvat Vatevarchya Aamhi’ (We are on a different path). The event was attended by veteran actress Shubhangi Damle who interacted with Dr. Rohini Patwardhan, veteran welfare expert, Dr. Anuradha Oak, Yoga Therapist, Dr. Manisha Sonawane, who works for the rehabilitation of beggars and Dr. Deepti Bachhav, COVID Warrior and talk about their achievements. During the interaction, Dr. Rohini Patwardhan spoke about the importance of aging management and explained how it takes time to understand and take care of the elderly.

“The family and the community need to work together to address the challenges people face as they age. The quality of life of a person decreases with age. In such a case, it is necessary to pay attention to make their lives pleasant and for that work should start at all levels,” she said. Dr. Anuradha Oak explained what yoga therapy is all about. She said, “Yoga therapy is the only way to make a busy body healthy and women should take care of their health as at times they lose their identity by neglecting their health.” Dr. Manisha Sonawane and her husband Dr. Abhijeet Sonawane who has been working for the rehabilitation of beggars have been providing free medical services and other facilities to beggars since 2015. Talking about her work, Dr. Sonawane said, “We started thinking about the need to work for the beggars as their problems became apparent.

We counsel them, provide them with medical help and also help them find work. Through the Bhikshekari to Kashtakari and Annapurna project, around 1000 needy people are given food every day, while 156 beggars have received jobs,” she stated. The event also acclaimed the work of Dr. Deepti Bachhav, who runs the COVID Care Centre for people with mental disabilities. Expressing her experience, Dr. Bachhav said, “As my son is autistic, I understand the problems people with mental disabilities go through. It was necessary to take care and serve these individuals during the COVID period.” The dignitaries were honoured with a sari at the hands of the executive members of the organization. The program was presented by Vandana Joglekar, while Supriya Damle expressed her gratitude.
