Ottawa, Feb 10 (FN Agency) Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has slammed the truckers for protesting against the Covid-19 restrictions and “trying to blockade” economy. Speaking to parliament, the PM on Wednesday said, “Blockages, illegal demonstrations are unacceptable, and are negatively impacting businesses and manufacturers.
We must do everything to bring them to an end.” He condemned the protesters for “trying to blockade our economy, our democracy and our fellow citizens’ daily lives. It has to stop”. This comes after the truckers blocked a key border crossing between the US and Canada, sparking fear of economic disruption. According to BBC, Canada-bound lanes from Detroit remain closed though limited US-bound traffic is being allowed to cross the Ambassador Bridge in Ontario. The truck drivers have been protesting for past two weeks against vaccine rules, requiring them to be vaccinated to cross the US-Canada border and Covid restrictions.
