New Delhi, Feb 7 (Agency) The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday staged a protest at the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, demanding new ration cards and old age pension for poor citizens. BJP leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Ramesh Bidhuri alleged that Arvind Kejriwal led-Delhi government hasn’t issued a single new ration card in the past seven years. About 10 lakh Delhiites have applied for new ration cards during this period. The Union government has been providing free ration to people for the past two years.
People will continue to get it till this March, he added. Bidhuri claimed that several people had faced lots of problems during the Novel Coronavirus pandemic as they could not avail free ration facilities provided by the Union government in the absence of ration cards. The poor people were forced to buy atta at Rs 25 kg and sugar at Rs 45 kg. The party warned the Delhi government that if no concrete steps were taken on these two issues, BJP would sit on an indefinite dharna at Kejriwal’s residence, along with senior citizens.
