Illegal wildlife organs seized in Nashik

Kolhapur, Feb 7 (Agency) In a joint operation, the officials of district Forest department and their counterparts in Nashik on Monday seized illegal valuable wildlife organs including porcupine spines, Iguanas genitals, black coral and tusks of boar in a raid on a shop and arrested one person in this connection.

Acting on a tip off, the district Forest officers along with their Nashik counterparts conducted a joint raid on Laxmiupuri Puja Sahitya Bhandara in Nashik and seized organs of wild animals including porcupine spines, Iguanas genitals, black corals and boar’s tusks, which were stocked for illegal sale, and arrested accused Kailas Banana Kulthe. A case under relevant sections of Wildlife Protection Act has been registered against the suspect at the Nashik police station. Further investigation is on, sources said.
