Thane, Feb 3 (Agency) A man from Mumbra town of this city was arrested for allegedly issuing fake Covid-19 vaccination certificates, informed the Crime Branch on Thursday. The accused was identified as Asfaque Iftikar Shaikh. Briefing about the crime, Crime Branch (Property Cell) senior Inspector Anil Honrao stated, “Acting on a tip off and complaint, a decoy was sent to the accused for obtaining the fake vaccination certificate.”
“The accused asked the decoy to provide the Aadhar Number, mobile number and pay Rs 2,000 for getting the certificate.” “While the deal was in progress the police pinned down the accused,” the cop said, adding that the probe is underway to trace those who got such certificates.
