Mumbai, Feb 3 (Agency) Snapping its winning streak of the last three sessions, the BSE Sensex on Thursday tumbled down 770.31 points to settle at 58,788.02 on profit booking by local operators amid weak global cues. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too slipped 219.80 points to 17,560.20. After registering gains of 2356 in the last three sessions, the BSE Sensex on Thursday opened at 59,528.16, down by 30 points. During the day it lost ground by 905 points to settle at at 58,653.94, the days low, before closing at 58,788.02, sliding 770.31 points from its previous close. The Sensex registered the days high and low at 59,557.87 and 58,653.94 respectively. The Nifty recorded the days high and low at 17,781.15 and 17,511.15 respectively.
The sectoral indices like IT, Technology, Realty, Capital Goods and Energy dragged the market. In scrips, HDFC was the worst hit, as it fell by 3.23 per cent to Rs 2527.75 followed by Infosys by 2.76 per cent to Rs 1738.70, Kotak Bank by 2.38 per cent to Rs 1896.10, L & T by 2.36 per cent to Rs 1935 and Bajaj Finserv by 2.20 per cent to Rs 16,339.90. The gainers were ITC by 1.14 per cent to Rs 234.30, Maruti Suzuki by 0.86 per cent to Rs 8590.15, Titan by 0.46 per cent to Rs 2575.45, SBI by 0.05 per cent to Rs 540.10 and Asian Paints by 0.03 per cent to Rs 3198.75. The Mid Cap declined by 0.90 per cent and Small Cap by 0.38 per cent. In 30 scrips, 25 declined while 5 advanced. South Korea’s Kospi rose 1.7 per cent while Japan’s Nikkei eased 1 per cent. Australia’s ASX, too, fell 0.14 per cent.
