Sangrur, Feb 2 (Agency) Appealing to the people to support the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the party’s Punjab Chief Minister candidate Bhagwant Mann said that while other parties are fighting for saving the interests of political families, his party is fighting for the sake of the state’s future. While campaigning in villages of Dhuri assembly segment on Wednesday, he said while “Till February 20 our responsibility is yours, after that all your responsibilities will be ours”. He said “We will save both the agriculture and youth of the Punjab. Due to lack of employment and better education infrastructure, our youth is moving abroad.
We will stop our talent from migrating by providing adequate opportunities of employment with world-class education system.” Speaking on the issue of farmers, Mann said that the previous governments had given a lot of pain to farmers of Punjab by abating the condition the Mandis. After working hard to cultivate crops, farmers’ crops are getting spoiled in the Mandis and they have to bear the loss. AAP government will not let the farmers bear the brunt of crop-loss at any cost, he promised. He assured farmers, once the crop reached the market, all the responsibility of the crops will be of the government. Farmers would not have to bear the loss if the crop gets spoiled due to storm or rain, and they will be compensated with full payment within 24 hours. Attacking Congress Punjab President Navjot Singh Sidhu, the AAP leader said that a person who can not take care of his mother, how will he serve the people of Punjab? Since he ill-treated his mother, thereby his political career has become zero. He also took pot shots at Akali Dal and Parkash Singh Badal, he said that “Akali dal Khali Dal hai”.
Parkash Singh Badal has been urging people to cast their vote in favour of Akali Dal for his last three terms, saying that this is his last election. He said that Prakash Singh Badal is appealing to people to give one more chance to serve him. The AAP leader said that now, he is not at the age to serve but his greed of power forced him to contest at the age of 94. Mann said that power in Punjab is limited to a few political families. “However, our government will take out the power from those families and take it to the common people. The AAP government will be the government of all sections of Punjab. People from all the sections – farmers, traders-businessmen and employees will be heard and their grievances will resolved at the earliest” he said. He appealed to the people to press the “Jharu” button to ensure an AAP victory in the elections so as to change the fortune of youth, children and Punjab. “Being MP from Sangrur, I have always raised voice of Punjab in Parliament. Similarly, on becoming Chief Minister, I will work round the clock to resolve the problems and protect the rights of every section,” he said.
