Man held for creating fake email ID, signature of CM Yogi Adityanath

New Delhi, Jan 30 (Agency) A 41-year-old man who allegedly created a fake email ID of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and forged his signature to get favours from Public Sector Units (PSUs) was arrested from Bhubaneswar. The accused has been identified as Manoj Kumar Seth. Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of Delhi Police said that they had received a complaint from Rjbhushan Singh Rawat, PS to CM Yogi Aditya Nath, wherein he had alleged that some unknown persons had created a fake email ID purportedly to be shown to Yogi Adityanath, and alleged persons had sent emails and forged letters to PSUs including Power Grid Corporation of India, ONGC and GAIL India. These persons had attached scanned letters in which they had allegedly forged the signatures of Yogi Adityanath. A case was registered on the basis of complaint and the probe was initiated.

During investigation, the fake email ID [email protected] was identified and the contents of the email was analysed to understand the motive of the fake email. The email was with a request to release an advertisement in favour of an English newspaper. Similarly, fake emails and fake letters were sent to ONGC and GAIL for the advertisement support in favour of Newspaper. Through the IP Address analysis and human intelligence, Seth was identified. Alleged Seth was aware that his plan to gain advertisement favour was not successful, said KPS Malhotra, DCP, IFSO, Delhi Police. To evade police, he was continuously changing his hideouts. Several times, raids were conducted at the possible hideouts of the accused, but he escaped every time finally he was arrested on Friday from Bhubaneswar. During interrogation, the accused told police that he is a freelance journalist and also publishes his newspaper fortnightly. He had allegedly created the fake email and prepared the forged letters to seek advertisement support in favour of his local newspapers. He is also involved in a case of extortion registered against him at Chaliya Ganj, Cuttack Police Station on complaint of an executive engineer of PWD, Odisha, said DCP.
