New Delhi, Jan 18 (Representative) Bharatiya Janata Party MP Rita Bahuguna Joshi on Tuesday asked for a ticket from the party for her son Mayank Joshi for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. BJP has decided not to give tickets to the kin of sitting MPs and MLAs, Joshi has also offered to give up her Lok Sabha seat. Joshi met UP election in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday, and urged him to give the party ticket from Lucknow Cantt seat to Mayank.
Talking to reporters later, Joshi said: “BJP has decided to give ticket to only one member from a family. I had anyhow decided I will not fight Lok Sabha polls in 2024. If the party wants I can resign from my post as a MP,” she said. Apart from Joshi, MP Jagadambika Pal, Satyadev Pachauri, Union Minister Kaushal Kishore, and deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya are among leaders who have sought tickets for their kin.
