Japan’s PM pledges to revive economy through ‘new form of capitalism’

Tokyo, Jan 18 (Agency) Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida on Tuesday said he is determined to revive Japan’s economy through a “new form of capitalism” and aims to help create a virtuous cycle of economic growth and wealth distribution. “I would attach the importance to having both the public and private sectors work together towards reforms, sharing the full picture of social and economic transformation, rather than leaving everything to the market and competition,” Kishida said during a speech at the World Economic Forum’s virtual Davos Agenda conference.

Moreover, he reaffirmed his determination to achieve a full-scale “twin-engine of growth and distribution” by launching new mechanisms to inspire investment and change the way of sharing added values. Kishida also vowed to directly tackle the issue of Covid-19 and pursue “realism diplomacy for a new era,” taking an aggressive approach and introducing policies swiftly.
