Bhubaneswar, Jan 11 (Representative) Veteran and popular Odia film actor Mihir Das passed away on Tuesday while undergoing treatment for the last one month at a private hospital in Cuttack. He was 63. Born on February 11, 1959 in Baripada town in Mayurbhanj district, Mihir Das debuted in the Odia film industry with an art film School Master and then in commercial (non-art) film Mathura Bijay in 1979. He received wider applause and recognition for his performance in Odia film “Pua Mora Bholashankar”. He was married to singer and film artist Sangita Das who passed away in 2010 following a cardiac arrest. His son Amlan Das is also an actor in the Ollywood industry.
A veteran actor for more than three decades, Mihir Das had acted in many films and received Best Actor award from the state government for his performance in movies “Laxmi Protima” in 1998 and “Pheria Mo Suna Bhauni” in 2005. He was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award by Tarang Cine Productions in 2021. Mihir Das was also involved in various social activities. Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and people from various walks of life have condoled the demise of the veteran actor. Taking to his twitter page, Patnaik said, “I am very sad to learn of the demise of veteran actor Mihir Das.
