Johannesburg, Jan 2 (FN Agency) Left-arm seamer Marco Jansen on Sunday received a maiden One-Day International call-up as Cricket South Africa announced the squad against India. Cricket South Africa named a 17-member team that will take on India in the three-match ODI series from January 19 to 23. Anrich Nortje, who was out of Test series due to a “persistent” hip injury, has been ruled out of the ODI series after not recovering sufficiently from the injury. He is continuing with his rehabilitation. While Wayne Parnell and Zubayr Hamza have been retained from the Netherlands ODI tour, Dwaine Pretorius makes a return alongside Andile Phehlukwayo.
“This is a very exciting group and the Selection Panel and I are eager to see what they will produce,” said Victor Mpitsang, CSA Convenor of Selectors. “For many of our players, it does not get bigger than playing against this powerhouse Indian team and this will be the biggest series of their young lives so far. “We are looking forward to seeing what they bring to the table and wish Temba (Bavuma) and Mark (Boucher) all the best for the series,” added Mpitsang. The three-match ODI series will be played on January 19, 21 and 23.
