Sensex falls marginally by 12.17 points

Mumbai, Dec 30 (FN Agency) The BSE Sensex on Thursday declined 12.17 points to settle at 57,794.42 as selling was seen in metal, energy, realty and oil and gas stocks. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too eased 9.65 points at 17,203.95. The equity market was range bound as the Sensex opened weak at 57,755.40, fell 51 points. During the day it dropped 228 points at 57,578.99, the day’s low before closing at 57,794.32, easing 12.17 points from its previous close.

Meanwhile, it gained 204 points to 58,010.03 — the day’s high. Sectoral indices like oil and gas, metal, energy and realty stocks kept the market down. In scrips, Reliance Industries, Tata Steel, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Finance and SBI fell while NTPC, HCL Technology, Titan and Wipro were up. The Mid Cap eased 0.22 per cent while the Small Cap rose by 0.19 per cent. In 30 scrips, 16 advanced while 14 declined.
