New Delhi, Dec 29 (Agency) Head of the Punjab assembly elections, former Congress MLA Shamsher Singh Rai and former leaders of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) from Punjab on Wednesday joined the BJP at party headquarters in New Delhi. Among the leaders who joined the BJP are Jagdeep Singh Nakai, Ravipreet Singh Siddhu and Harbhag Singh Desu , in the presence of state party in-charge Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and other senior BJP leaders. Shekhawat, while welcoming the leaders into the party, said the way the eminent personalities are joining the BJP is a sign that the wave is in favour of the BJP. On Tuesday, the two Congress MLAs, Fateh Jung Singh Bajwa and Balwinder Singh Laddi, joined the BJP.
Fateh Jung is the MLA from Qadian constituency and the brother of Rajya Sabha MP and senior Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa, while Laddi is the legislator from Hargobindpur. Besides the two sitting MLAs, former India cricketer Dinesh Mongia, former MP Rajdev Singh Khalsa, former MLA Gurtej Singh Ghuriana and United Christian Front of Punjab president Kamal Bakshi joined the Party . The development came after BJP announced its alliance with former chief minister Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Lok Congress and former Union minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa’s SAD (Sanyukt). On Monday, in a meeting at Home Minister Amit Shah, the leaders of three parties agreed to fight the election together and decided to have a common manifesto for the upcoming election.
