Air Customs officials seize gold worth around Rs 1.14 cr at Kannur Int’l Airport, two held

Kannur, Dec 24 (Agency) Air Customs sleuths on Friday seized 2360 grams of gold worth around Rs 1.14 crores from two passengers, including a woman, who arrived at Kannur International Airport from Dubai and Abu Dhabi in separate flights. Customs Assistant Commissioner E Vikas-led team detained the passengers Muhammed Rafi Menala Abbas of Sullia in Dakshina Kannada in Karnataka and Aysha from Thalangara in Kasaragod district, in this connection.

Customs Superintendent V P Baby said they seized gold weighing 1962 grams from a man who arrived in a Go Air flight from Dubai and 431 grams of gold from a woman who came in an Air India Express flight from Abu Dhabi. Further investigation is under way and the arrested persons were enlarged on bail.
