Milkha Singh Adventure Club set up

Chandigarh, Dec 22 (Representative) A Milkha Singh Adventure Club has been established so that youths can excel in sports and other activities. Haryana is geared up for the National Youth Festival to be held in Puducherry from January 12 to 16, Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Sandeep Singh told the Vidhan Sabha here on Wednesday. He said this in response to a question asked by MLA Varun Chaudhary about the separation of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department.

The Minister said through 5,000 youth clubs, various competitions including essay writing, poetry, short story and drama dance were being organized in the state. He said that sports and youth affairs were interlinked. If separated, their importance will end. He added that the youth clubs are given prize money ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 75,000 for various competitions. The Minister said that under the Milkha Singh Adventure Sports Club, youths would be provided with an opportunity to participate in adventure sports like trekking, mountaineering, rock-climbing, skiing, river rafting, water sports and paragliding.
