BJP joins hand with PLC for Punjab Assembly elections

New Delhi, Dec 17 (FN Agency) Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Friday announced that BJP will fight the upcoming Assembly elections in Punjab in alliance with Punjab Lok Congress (PLC), the new party floated by former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. The latest development came after the former Punjab Chief Minister met the BJP state In-charge, at his residence here. Talking to reporters shortly after the meeting, the Union Minister said that BJP’s top brass, including national president Jagat Prakash Nadda, had earlier also indicated that the party will form an alliance with PLC.

“We will fight the elections together,” Shekhawat said. Capt Singh seconded him, “We are prepared for the polls. We will win. There is no doubt.” However, the two leaders refused to reveal their cards, when asked about seat-sharing. While Shekhawat said, “We will announce it at an appropriate time,” Capt Singh categorically made it clear by saying, “It will be a seat-to-seat adjustment. Tickets will be decided on the criteria of winnability.” Punjab is slated to go for Assembly polls, along with UP, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand in early next year.
