Goyal calls for industry role in building global, equitable partnerships

New Delhi, Dec 13 (Bureau) India will leverage global partnerships for collective solutions to global issues as it gets ready for assuming presidency of the G20 in 2023. Partnerships among countries, between citizens and between communities will define its stewardship of G20 for collective solutions to global issues. Outlining the idea of partnering for achieving global growth through competitiveness, sustainability and technology at the CII Partnership Summit 2021 held virtually, Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said India has emerged as the world’s trusted partner by providing medical supplies, equipment to more than 150 countries across the globe and meeting all its international service commitments despite lockdowns.

This, he assured, would be continued with supply of Covid vaccines to the whole world as it plans the manufacture of 5 billion doses next year. “The pandemic has put India under the spotlight, to introspect its potential as a global leader especially at a time when the country is celebrating 75 years of Independence,” Goyal said, emphasising on the Government’s philosophy of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas which also underlines India’s mission of driving global partnerships. Highlighting India’s attractiveness to a distinguished Indian and international audience, Goyal pointed out robust economic indicators such as higher exports, record GST collection, highest ever FDI and the success of India’s reform journey with schemes such as the Production Linked Incentive, PM Mitra, reduction in corporate tax, ease of doing business, single window.

While adoption of 5G, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things were signs of a changing business strategy to achieve manufacturing excellence, the country was moving forward to meet the ambitious target of attaining Net Zero (carbon footprint) by 2070 in the fastest possible time,” he said. Goyal called upon industry and stakeholders to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of cleanliness, creation and continuous efforts for a self-reliant India and expressed optimism over the role of the Partnership Summit in building new bridges to foster balanced and equitable global growth.
