Kejriwal announces ‘Dilli Ki Yogshala’ for city residents

New Delhi, December 13 (FN Agency) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced the ‘Dilli ki Yogshala’ program wherein residents of the national capital can avail yoga training free of charge by the trainers provided by the city government. While the program is set to be launched from January 2022 onwards, the CM launched a helpline number and a website-www.dillikiyogshala.com today on which people can give a missed call and get the guidance of yoga teachers. The launch happened during an event at Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University (DPSRU).

The program, as per Kejriwal, aims to help the residents improve their well being by practising yoga regularly. “We have strengthened our health infrastructure where all kinds of consultancy and surgeries are at the service of our people. However, we want that people don’t have to use them. Our Yogashala program is a step towards making the people of Delhi healthier,” he said. Divulging further details about the initiative, the CM said: “Under the program, a group consisting of at least 25 people, can give a missed call on the number and the Delhi government will provide the teachers.

The training is free of charge. People only have to identify a place for training. It can be a park or a community hall to practise Yoga.” “Around 400 teachers have been trained for the service and the government expects 20,000 people to enroll in the first month of the launch,” the Minister added. Kejriwal also said that the initiative was conceptualised earlier this year and a budget of Rs 25 crores was also allocated for the purpose. “We thought it would take two to three years to implement it on the ground but I’m happy that we will start the program from next month onwards, ” he said.
