Shillong, Dec 10 (Agency) The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) will observe December 11 as a “Black Day” in all the important places across the seven Northeast states by displaying black flags and black banners to mark its continued opposition to the Citizenship Act. In a statement issued on Friday, NESO Chairman Samuel Jyrwa said despite the relentless opposition of the indigenous peoples of the North East against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2019. “NESO, has declared that December 11 will always be remembered as a Black Day for the whole of the North East.
So, in continuation of this observation of this Black Day, the NESO has decided that there will be a display of Black Flags and Black Banners in all the important places of all the seven states,” he said. Jyrwa said this observation is to give a message to the Indian government that the people in the region are against this Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 and also at the same time to remind our people and our posterior of yet another political injustice that the Indian government perpetrated against the indigenous peoples of the North East. The NESO Chief also called upon all the people of the North East to support this observation and at the same time “to keep on fighting for the just cause which is our God given right.”
