Mumbai, Dec 3 (Agency) Snapping a winning streak of last two sessions, the BSE Sensex on Friday tanked 764.83 pts to settle at 57,696.46 as selling was seen in Energy, FMCG, Health Care and Finance stocks despite positive trend in Asian Market. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too slipped 204.95 pts at 17,196.70. The equity market witnessed high volatility today, as the Sensex opened higher at 58,555.58, up 94 pts. It rallied 296 pts to 58,757.09, days high. In late trade it was dropped nearly 821 pts at 57,640.57 days low, before closing at 57,696.46, slumping 764.83 pts from its previous close. The sensex registered days high and low at 58,757.09 and 57,640.57 respectively. The Nifty recorded days high and low at 17,489.80 and 17,180.80 pts respectively.
The sectoral indices that declined were Energy lost by more than two percent followed by FMCG, Bankex, Health Care and Finance stocks fell 0- 1 per cent. In scrips, Powergrid was a major loser down by 4.03 pc to Rs 206.60 in 30 scrips of BSE. Other losers were Reliance Industries by 3.05 pc to Rs 2408.15, Kotak Bank by 2.58 pc to Rs 1913.60, Asian Paints by 2.29 pc to Rs 3110.70 and Bharti Airtel by 1.88 pc to Rs 718.35. The gainers were L& T by 0.72 pc to Rs 1801.85, IndusInd Bank by 0.61 pc to Rs 951.25, Tata Steel by 0.47 pc to Rs 1118 and Ultracemco by 0.35 pc to Rs 7348. The Mid Cap fell by 0.01 pc while Small Cap rose by 0.33 pc. In 30 scrips, 4 advanced while 26 declined. In Asian Market, Nikkei and Shanghai Composite moved up a per cent each. Similarly, Kospi rose 0.8 per cent, and Straits Times too gained 0.3 per cent. While, Hang Seng was seen weak, down 0.5 per cent.
