Congress questions PM’s silence over Chinese transgression

New Delhi, Nov 21 (Agency) The Congress on Sunday questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi silence over the alleged Chinese construction of a second village into the Indian territory in Arunachal Pradesh and urged the latter to immediately ‘resolve’ the issue. Addressing a press conference here, Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said, “Why is the PM silent over this issue? We condemn his silence. This is inexcusable. It is a sad case of deliberate distortion and diversion on a issue affecting India’s integrity and sovereignty. I urge the PM to immediately resolve the issue.”

Highlighting the reports of satellite images, claiming Chinese transgression in the frontier state, Singhvi said it was a very serious issue, as it was related to the national security. The PM should be straight forward, honest and transparent over the matter, he added. “We are all here in the national interest. Why can’t there be a candid admission on this issue also if there is something wrong as it involves national security. It requires a simple answer i.e acceptance as it is the beginning of a rectification,” said the spokesperson of the grand old party. He also asked whether it was not disrespecting the valour of Indian soldiers, who had laid down their lives for the country. The Congress leader also accused the BJP of intimidating the whole country on national security issues, but remaining silent on such issues.
