Kakinada, Nov 19 (Agency) A special postal cover on cine character actress of yesteryears late Suryakantham popularly known as Gayyali Suryakantham was released at a function held at Satkalavahini, a cultural organization here on Thursday. MP Vanga Geeta Viswanath, who was the chief guest while releasing the special postal cover described her as a multifaceted genius and a character actor besides a household name in the Telugu states as Gayyali Attha Garu.
She also said that the actress Suryakantham who hails from Venkatakrishnarayapuram near Kakinada city was a close friend of her grandmother. Superintendent of post offices Kakinada division DSU Nageswera Reddy chaired the function while Dr M Venkateswerlu postmaster general Visakhapatnam region attended as the guest of honor. Rayavarapu Satyabhama, founder of Satyabhama charitable trust who sponsored the postal cover, thanked the postal department for giving the opportunity to sponsor the special cover on Suryakantham. City Mayor Sunkara Sivaprasanna was also present.
