Five inter-state drug peddlers held; 12 kgs of Ganja seized

Hyderabad, Nov 19 (Agency) The city police have arrested five inter-state drug peddlers and seized 12 kgs of ganja from them. One autorickshaw and five cell phones were also seized from their possession. On credible information, the sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, North Zone team, along with Afzalgunj police arrested, Jayaram Galari (19) of Chitrakonda in Malkangiri District of Odisha, Ankush Vinayak Rathod (30), Dattatri (30), Maruthi Raghunath Rathod (41) and Lambadi Ramu (36) of Vallepur in Bidar district of Karnataka, at Mahatma Gandhi Bus Stand (MGBS) when they were transporting Ganja from Chitrakonda to Bidar via Hyderabad.

The main accused Jaya Muduli belonging to Odisha is absconding in the case, a police release here said on Friday. The accused procured Ganja at Rs 5000 per kg in Odisha and the same was being sold at Rs 10,000 per kg in Karnataka. The accused persons along with seized material was handed over to SHO, Afzalgunj Police for further investigation. A case was registered under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances U/s 8(C) r/w 20(b)(ii)(B) of NDPS Act.
