New Delhi, Nov 8 (FN Bureau) Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said on Monday that the electric vehicles policy of the city government is being well received by the people. Citing a quarterly report of vehicular sales, he said that acceptance for electric mobility among the masses is increasing to the total vehicles sold in the previous quarter. “Electric vehicles contributed 7 per cent of the total vehicles sold in Delhi in the previous quarter,” Gahlot said while addressing a press conference on the launch of a single-window facility to install battery chargers for electric vehicles.
“It shows (growth) the Delhi government’s Electric Vehicle Policy has made an impact on the public. We expect further growth in upcoming quarters,” he added. The minister also announced a single-window facility where people can avail installation of electric chargers as well as the subsidy offered. “Now those who want to set-up a charging facility can complete all the procedures related to it at just one venue. Those interested can apply on the websites of DISCOMS. We have shortlisted 12 vendors who would provide the chargers,” he informed. Gahlot also said that Rs six thousand of subsidy is provided by the Delhi government to the first 30,000 people who buy chargers from private vendors.
