‘Success of edu policy will depend on its right implementation’

Dhàramshala , Nov 8 (FN Bureau) National Secretary of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas Atul Kothari, on Monday said after 150 years education policy has been prepared pertaining to Indian culture and this is the third education policy after India’s independence. However, even before this, education policy had come in 1968 and 1986 but, both of them were far from the sense of Indian inclusiveness. Atul Kothari was a key note speaker during a National Seminar organized at Central University of Himachal Pradesh here Monday on the topic of implementation of National Education Policy 2020. He said the new National Education Policy, talks about the inclusion of Indian knowledge tradition, art, culture and values ??in all subjects at different levels of education.

He said for the first time after independence, a special education zone would be established to promote education among the students belonging to socio-economically backward classes. He said higher education institutions teaching in Indian languages ??will be promoted and by the year 2025, 50 percent students of college, university level will acquire knowledge of vocational education. He said the next decade, vocational education will gradually be included in the mainstream of education. He said at present, there should be a good implementation of education policy and work will have to be done in this direction. This is the biggest challenge at the moment. It is easy to make a policy, but difficult to implement it. If the implementation is right, then the policy will be successful. Knowledge tradition, character building development are the main aspects of this policy, Kothari added. Kothari said four years at the graduation level and in view of the change in the structure, the change in the nature of the curriculum will have to determine the main subject and elective subject groups.

He said Orientation of research has to be started from the first year in research and Students have to be allowed and encouraged to do research in mother tongue. An MoU was also signed between Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, New Delhi and Himachal Pradesh Central University, Dharamsala on this occasion. The seminar started with Vedic cosmic prayer by the students of Sanskrit department. University Vice Chancellor Prof. Sat Prakash Bansal in his welcome address said Atul Kothari has contributed a lot in determining the nature of the National Education Policy. He said the CUHP has also become one of the few universities in the country to implement the 50 percent National Education Policy in its curriculum. Vice Chancellor said from the next session, the university will make all the courses available to the students in both Hindi and English languages certainly the first university to do so. He said work has started on 50-50 percent practical and theory courses in the university besides Value added courses have also been started.
