Transport ministry tells staff to adopt yoga for improved productivity at workplaces

New Delhi, Nov 7 (Bureau) The Road Transport and Highways Ministry wants its officers and employees to adopt yoga to improve productivity at workplaces. In a November 2 letter to officers at its headquarters and subordinate organisations, the ministry has advised them to adopt yoga break protocol while forwarding a letter from Sarbananda Sonowal, Union minister for AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homoeopathy).

The letter noted that adopting yoga will help destress and focus on the work. In September this year, Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) had written to all the ministries and government departments to promote the usage of Y-break protocol among employees and direct them to download the android-based mobile application Y-break from Google Play Store. Ministry of AYUH has designed and developed five-minutes duration Yoga protocol named Y-break for work places. The module had been launched on pilot project basis in 6 metros including Hyderabad and Bangaluru in January last year.
