People of NE will not support TMC: Tasa

New Delhi, Oct 31 (Agency) BJP MP from Assam Kamakhya Prasad Tasa said the people of North East states will not extend their support to the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress because the party cannot do any developmental work in the region as it is only in power in West Bengal. “There is no chance to get support of people of NE because they have got no power and only limited in West Bengal. To some extent, some portion of people will support but it won’t last long,” the Rajya Sabha MP told UNI on Saturday. In an apparent reference to the TMC’s prepartion for the upcoming civic polls, and state Assembly polls 2023, the BJP leader attacking the party, said, “TMC and Mamata Banerjee can pump money into all these activities but it will not help the party as it doesn’t have any connect with people at the grassroots level unlike BJP.”

Attacking the TMC which is eyeing to make inroads in NE states, including Tripura and Assam, Tasa accused the Mamata-led party of “provoking” people against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP and its alliance parties through false narratives and misleading them but people of the region will not fall prey to TMC’s agenda. “TMC is provoking people against Prime Minister Narendra Modiji, BJP and its allies through false narratives and misleading them but they won’t fall prey to TMC’s agenda,” the BJP leader alleged. On being asked about Assam, Tasa said “Various parties, including Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) tried to make inroads but it had failed. TMC will have the same fate.”

On Assembly by-elections to five seats, voting for which was held on Saturday, the Tasa, who is also the chief spokesperson of Assam BJP exuded confidence that the saffron party and its ally United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) will win all the seats. “We will win all the five Assembly seats as people are aware that the ruling BJP and its allies (Asom Gana Parishad and UPPL) are working for the welfare and development of the people,” he said. Out of the five Assembly constituencies (Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Moriani and Thowra), BJP has fielded candidates in three seats while UPPL in two constituencies.
