New Delhi, Oct 29 (Agency) Two gangsters from Western Uttar Pradesh were arrested from the North Delhi area after a brief encounter. Both have a history of involvement in dacoity, murder and robbery, police said on Friday. The police had specific information about the movement of these gangsters, who were coming on a motorcycle through Jagatpur Pusta Road to Wazirabad. Acting on this input, the police chased and nabbed them after a brief encounter. Both have been identified as Mahesh Chand Tomar (28) and Sukhbir (44). The police said that the pillion rider Sukhbir opened fire on the police team when they were signaled to stop for checking, said Sagar Singh Kalsi, DCP, North Delhi.
During interrogation, it disclosed that Sukhbir has a previous crime record he was allegedly involve in 9 heinous cases, including dacoity, murder, robbery and gangster Act registered in different Police Stations of UP. Mahesh was allegedly involved in crime activities for the last 10 years. In July 2012, he was arrested in a dacoity case in Mursan Hathras police station in UP wherein he was sent to jail and in 2013, he was released on bail. Mahesh was later arrested in a robbery case of Raya PS in UP’s Mathura on April, 2014, In 2018, he was again arrested in a dacoity in UP. In March, 2020, he was arrested in a robbery case and was released on bail in May, 2020, said Kalsi. During interrogation, both told police that they were collecting information about the collection of Hawala dealers operating in Sadar Bazar and were planning for big robberies before Deepawali, said Kalsi.
