CBI arrests Delhi Police SI, ASI for accepting bribe

New Delhi, Oct 10 (Agency) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a woman Sub-Inspector (SI) and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Delhi Police for allegedly accepting bribe from a Sub Inspector (SI) who is accused of allegedly raping a woman constable, Delhi Police said on Sunday. According to police sources, CBI caught ASI Lekhram who was posted at Malviya Nagar Police Station with Rs 50,000 cash. Sources said that SI Manoj reached the police station at around 8 pm and called a woman SI who was the investigative officer of the case and told her that he had brought the documents but woman SI was not present at the police station.

Therefore, she asked ASI to collect the documents. ASI was caught by the CBI team while he was allegedly receiving the amount. According to the sources, a woman constable posted in South Delhi had lodged a complaint on August 3, against SI Manoj who was earlier posted in the same area. On receipt of the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections and investigation was handed over to a woman SI Romi Memroth, posted at Malviya Nagar police station. During investigation Manoj applied for anticipatory bail in Sessions court at Saket wherein he was asked to join investigation but his anticipatory bail was dismissed by the Sessions court. However, he moved to the High Court where he was asked to join the investigation.
