New Delhi, Oct 8 (Representative) Delhi Police on Friday arrested two men for allegedly attempting to uproot an ATM machine in Southeast Delhi’s Amar Colony area. According to police, they received a complaint from Sachin Mehndiratta, Branch Manager of Axis Bank, wherein he stated that two men had tried to break the ATM of the bank on Tuesday night. On this basis, police initiated a probe into the matter. The police scanned the CCTVs in which they recognized both the offenders. Then police launched a search in and around the area to nab them. Very soon, cops got information that people who tried to uproot the ATM were roaming near Ring Road.
Acting on the tip-off, the team raided and apprehended both, said Esha Pandey, DCP, southeast Delhi. The accused have been identified as Rohit Chauhan (27) native of Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj, and Pawan Kumar (25) resident of Ghaziabad in UP. During interrogation, both disclosed that they are addicted to alcohol and drugs and used to work in a private company on a temporary basis but could not earn enough to meet their requirements. To earn quick money, they tried to uproot the ATM in order to quench their desire for alcohol and drugs, said Pandey.
