Kejriwal felicitates Olympian Bajrang Punia

New Delhi, Sep 14 (FN Representative) Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal felicitated Bajrang Punia for bagging bronze in Tokyo Olympics at his residence on Tuesday, Delhi government said. “The CM expressed his delight at the way the wrestler performed at the Olympics and congratulated him on his triumph. The CM said that Bajrang Punia has made India proud and is an inspiration to millions of youth,” a statement released by Delhi government read. Punia was accompanied by his coach Satpal Singh in the meeting with Delhi CM. Kejriwal said that Punia will inspire the future athletes to bring more medals for the country. He also said that the state government is developing Delhi Sports University to identify such talents and develop players of international standards. “I am sure that the entire nation takes pride in the feat Bajrang has achieved.

He has taken the country’s name to great heights with his power packed performance. His performance will act as an example and inspire the future athletes of the country to bring more medals for the country. The Delhi Government wants to promote sports and support athletes of the region and will extend any kind of assistance that they require. In that prospect, we are also establishing the Delhi Sports University to identify talent and develop players of international standards. The University will serve as a cradle and warehouse of abundant talent,” the statement quoted Kejriwal. Kejriwal also took to Twitter and expressed his pleasure in meeting the Olympian. “Glad to meet Olympic bronze medalist Bajrang Punia at my residence today. Bajrang has made India proud and made us all proud. You are an inspiration to lakhs of youth,” he tweeted. Punia responded to Kejriwal’s tweet with a gratitude for the support he received from the Delhi government. “It was a pleasure meeting you sir. Thank you for all the support,” he said. Bajrang Punia said, “It was great to meet CM Arvind Kejriwal. The Chief Minister asked about my training; and discussed the future plans.”
