Two arrested, 20 cases of snatching solved

New Delhi, Sep 10 (Agency) Delhi Police claims to have solved 20 snatching cases after arresting two men and recovered valuables from them on Friday. The accused were identified as Rahul, who was involved in eight cases and Gurjeet Singh in 27 cases, the police said. On September 8, a woman resident of Mayur Vihar Phase I reported that she came out of her society main gate and was booking a cab through her phone all of a sudden two motorcycle borne boys came from her back side and snatched her mobile and ran away after that she raised an alarm and made a PCR call. In the meantime, two police personnel, who were passing from the area, noticed the snatchers running towards Ami Chand Chowk.

They chased them due to which the snatcher’s bike rammed into pedestrians and fell down. The cops apprehended the pillion rider whereas the rider succeeded in escaping with the motorcycle. The pillion rider was identified by the complainant at the spot, the police said. On his search, the complainant’s mobile was recovered. A case was registered in this regard and the investigation was taken up. The manhunt for other accused was initiated and raids were carried out at various places. On Thursday, he was also arrested, who is a bad character of Kalyanpuri area and was involved in 27 cases, Priyanka Kashyap, DCP, East Delhi, said.
