Beef worth Rs 3.5 lakh seized in Nashik

Nashik, Sep 8 (Representative) The city police have seized 3,500 kg of suspected beef worth Rs 3.5 lakh from a truck on the Mumbai-Agra national highway and detained three people in this connection. Acting on a reliable information that a truck fully loaded with beef was going from Malegoan in the district to Mumbai, the Bajrang Dal activists set a trap, stopped the truck at State Bank chowk on the flyover on the Mumbai-Agra highway late on Monday night and handed it over to the Ambad police, police said.

Police found beef in the truck during search. Then, police detained Majid Khan Shaheed Khan (26, resident of Jafarnagar, Malegaon), Sheikh Javed Sheikh Dawood (30, Devila Mala, Malegaon) and Sheikh Feroz Sheikh Rehman (34, resident of Momin Pura, Malegaon). Police have seized beef worth Rs 3.5 lakh and the truck used for transportation. Police have registered a case in regards to the crime. Further investigation was on, sources added.
