Simdega, Sep 2 (Agency) Police has arrested two inter state smugglers from Bolba Police Station area in this district alongwith 77 kilograms of Ganja. Briefing the press on Thursday Simdega SP Dr Samsh Tabrez said that during a vehicle checking drive a pick up van was signalled to stop but instead of stopping the two men jumped from the vehicle and tried to flee from the spot but the duo were chased and caught.
The arrested have been identified as Manish Kumar Sahu of Sundargarh and Devendra Sabar of Sambhalpur, both from Odisha. The SP said that the smugglers had plans to smuggle the Ganja from Odisha to Nepal via Jharkhand and Bihar. The cost of the seized Ganja is estimated to be around Rs 38.50 lakh. The SP said in the last eight months the Simdega Police has overall seized 1721.35 kilograms of Ganja and has arrested 26 smugglers while 12 vehicles have been also seized.
