NCB seizes high grade Ganja worth Rs 21 Cr in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Aug 29 (Representative) The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) have busted another Ganja trafficking network acting across may states by seizing 3400 kg of high grade Ganja, worth Rs 21 crore in the International market from a Truck near Hyderabad and arrested 3 persons, all from Maharashtra. Acting on a specific intelligence, NCB sleuths from Bangalore and Hyderabad intercepted a truck from Maharashtra registration near toll booth on Hyderabad ring road on Saturday and found 3400 kg of Ganja packed in 141 gunny bags which were concealed under tarpaulin sheets and further covered by varieties of nursery saplings in huge quantities in the truck. It was difficult to detect the contraband and during the operation, three persons were arrested including D Shinde, M R Kamble, N Jogdand, all from Latur district, Maharashtra, NCB Zonal Director (Bangalore) Amit Ghawate said in a release here on Sunday.

This operation was developed out of earlier operations, wherein seizure of a total quantity of 3992 kg of Ganja was affected resulting in arrest of 16 persons and subsequent busting of 3 separate Ganja trafficking networks. The present consignment was operated by a kingpin sitting in Maharashtra, who had arranged it for multiple separate syndicates doing drug trafficking in Pune district , Mumbai, Thane and other states. These syndicates further peddle the contraband in various colleges, parties, and individuals through their elaborate ground network. The source of contraband is the AOB (Andhra Orissa border) area.
