Hyderabad, Jun 30 (Agency) To curb the menace of black-marketing of passenger reservation tickets and to facilitate hassle free journey to passengers, South Central Railway (SCR) has intensified massive Special Drives against Touts and unauthorized agents at all Reservation Offices and Travel Agencies in major stations. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) under the supervision of G M Eswara Rao, IG, Principal Chief Security Commissioner/ RPF/ SCR conducted special raids at various locations all over the zone from June 22 to 27, an SCR release here said on Wednesday.
In this operation 178 live tickets, 1886 used tickets a total worth of Rs. 16,32,643 which were booked by the touts on commission basis were seized and 36 touts were apprehended. The drives were intended to save the passengers from black marketing of tickets and also arresting the loss of revenue to the Indian Railways as the touts are carrying business without license from Indian Railways. RPF is committed to take stringent action against touting activities, the release said. “Passengers are also requested to purchase tickets from reservation counters and authorized travel agents only. If any person notices the selling of tickets by unauthorized persons, it may be reported to Railway authorities”, the release added.
