Police foils burglary attempt in Kulgam; catches 2 accused red handed

Srinagar, May 30 (Agency) Police on Sunday claimed to have foiled a burglary attempt by arresting two burglars red handed while trying to break into a shop in south Kashmir district of Kulgam. A police spokesperson said during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, a specific information was received by Kulgam Police through reliable sources that some people were moving suspiciously at Malpora Chowk in south Kashmir. “On receiving this information, police party along with locals of Malpora reached the suspected spot and apprehended two burglars red handed as they were breaking the wall of a shop,” he said.

He said accused, identified as Rameez Ahmad Naik and Sumbhool Ahmad Yatoo, were immediately taken into custody. “The tools used for committing the crime have also been seized by the Police,” he said, adding a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund and further investigation is going on. “Community members have applauded the efforts made by the Kulgam Police in curbing social and criminal crimes in their neighbourhood. We assure community members that Police have resolved to act tough against individuals involved in criminal activities,” he added.
