Global nCoV cases surpass 62mln mark

Washington, Nov 29 (Bureau) The number of global Novel Coronavirus cases has surpassed the 62 million mark, while the deaths have surged to more than 1.45 million, the Johns Hopkins University said on Sunday. The University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed that the current global caseload and death toll stood at 62,147,874 and 1,450,326, respectively. The US is the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 13,233,884 and 266,009, according to the CSSE. India comes in second place in terms of cases at 9,351,109, while the country’s death toll soared to 136,200. The other countries with cases are Brazil (6,290,272), France (2,260,789), Russia (2,223,500), Spain (1,628,208) and the UK (1,609,141) the CSSE figures showed. Brazil currently accounts for the second-highest number of fatalities at 172,561. The countries with a death toll above 30,000 are Mexico (104,242), the UK (58,127), Italy (54,363), France (52,212), Iran (47,486), Spain (44,668) and Russia (38,676).
