Lucknow, Jan 12 (Agency) Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chancellor of State Universities, Anandiben Patel on Sunday unveiled the 11 feet high Ashtadhatu statue of Swami Vivekananda installed at Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University Agra on the occasion of National Youth Day. In her address, the Governor congratulated the university on National Youth Day and said that the installation of the statue of Swami Vivekananda in the university is an important link for historical times. She said, “This statue is not just a statue, it is a symbol of our cultural heritage which will continue to inspire our future generations. The inspirational thoughts of Swami Vivekananda have given a new direction to all sections of the society.” The Governor said that education is the power that generates self-development, character building and independence in humans. “Swami Vivekananda took Indian culture to the global level.
Today the youth of our country will have to build the nation by following in his footsteps,” she said. She said that just as India was the world leader earlier, Agra University was also a major educational center of North India. In her address, Vice Chancellor Prof Ashu Rani said that the name of the former Khandari Campus has been changed to Swami Vivekanand Campus. “This is certainly an example of the revival of cultural nationalism in India. Like Swami Vivekanand, the present youth will have to face challenges,” she said. On this occasion, prominent social worker and well-known businessman of the city Puran Dabur, Vice Chancellor Prof Ajay Taneja, Registrar Prof KP Singh, Dean Academics Prof Sanjeev Sharma, Prof Arshad (Dean-Student Welfare) and Prof Manu Pratap (Chief Proctor) were present as special guests.
