New Delhi, Jan 9 (Agency) Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Thursday demanded immediate intervention from the Election Commission, claiming that large-scale additions and deletions of voters are taking place in the New Delhi Assembly Constituency. In a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, Atishi alleged, “Forms for the addition and deletion of voters are being filled based on fraud and identity theft, mandated field verification is not being done by the Electoral Registration Officer and no investigation is being done into the use of fraudulent identities for initiating voter deletion.” She further requested the poll body to refrain from conducting hearings on voter deletion without prior physical verification by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and urged that all hearings conducted so far without prior verification by the ERO should be considered null and void. “Verification of the authenticity of objectors to be carried out before the exercise of voter deletion is done,” Atishi emphasised.
The CM also called for a criminal investigation into cases where fraudulent identities have been used for voter deletions and requested the presence of Booth Level Agents from all political parties during the field verification of voter additions. Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener and New Delhi Candidate Arvind Kejriwal too has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner alleging violation of the Model Code of Conduct by BJP candidate Parvesh Verma. In his complaint, the former Chief minister alleged, “When the Model Code of Conduct came into force on January 7, the BJP candidate initiated a campaign called “Har Ghar Naukri” on January 8 which is a violation of MCC.” He also accused the BJP leader of “distributing money directly to voters from his official residence” and alleged that an amount of Rs 1100 was given to women under the “fake Ladli Behen Scheme”.
