Patna, Jan 06 (FN Bureau) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday credited former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee with becoming the state’s Chief Minister. Kumar told media persons that it was former Prime Minister Vajpayee whose blessings helped him in becoming Chief Minister of Bihar. As CM, he had taken several steps to ameliorate the conditions of women in the state, he added. ” Jeevika Didis are doing wonderful jobs and Self Help Groups(SHGs) have greatly helped in empowering the women “, Chief Minister said adding that several steps were taken to improve the scenario in all sectors.
During his Pragati Yatra, he was taking stock of ongoing schemes and projects and listening grievances of the people, he pointed out. Kumar reiterated that he would remain in NDA and not desert BJP. It was a mistake of his party JD(U) to join hands with RJD to form a Grand Alliance government, he remarked. Former Prime Minister Vajpayee had played a vital role in declaring Nitish as PM candidate of NDA in the 2005 Bihar assembly elections. Barring a few months in 2014 and early 2015, Kumar remained Chief Minister of Bihar since 2005. Jeetan Ram Manjhi was Chief Minister for a few months in 2014 and early 2015. In 2005, two parties BJP and JD(U) were constituents of NDA in Bihar.
