New Delhi, Dec 26 (Agency) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday accused Congress party of colluding with BJP ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls by targeting the Arvind Kejriwal-led party. AAP has demanded immediate action against senior Congress leader Ajay Maken threatening the Congress’s removal from the opposition INDI alliance. The statement comes after Ajay Maken recently claimed that the Congress had made a mistake by supporting AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal in the past, a decision that continues to harm the party. Addressing a joint press conference along with Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh alleged,” Congress leader Ajay Maken is reading a BJP-scripted narrative and targeting AAP leaders.” “Arvind Kejriwal has worked tirelessly for Delhi by improving electricity, water, healthcare, and education, but the Congress has stooped to calling him a traitor,” he added. Singh further demanded the Congress to take action against Maken within 24 hours.
“If Congress fails to act, we will demand their removal from the INDI alliance. Congress has crossed all limits,” he warned. Atishi also accused Congress of colluding with the BJP, alleging that Congress’s candidate lists were finalized at BJP offices rather than Congress’s own headquarters. “Congress leaders accuse Kejriwal of sedition, yet they have never leveled such charges against any BJP leader. They have filed FIRs against me and Kejriwal but have never lodged a complaint against the BJP,” the CM said. She further alleged that BJP is funding Congress candidates in the Delhi elections, which are scheduled for early next year. Atishi called on Congress’s central leadership to take action against Ajay Maken and other Delhi Congress leaders who have openly criticized AAP.Ajay Maken, who serves as the treasurer of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), recently stated that supporting AAP in 2013 and forming an alliance during the last Lok Sabha election were major mistakes that weakened Congress in Delhi. At a Congress event on Wednesday, Maken said, “Congress’s decline in Delhi began because of its 40-day support for AAP in 2013. Even today, that decision remains the primary reason for our poor standing in the capital.” In the last two Delhi Assembly elections, Congress failed to win a single seat. With Assembly elections looming in the new year, tensions between Congress and AAP continue to rise.
