Hyderabad, Dec 2 (Representative) Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Sunday reiterated the Congress government’s dedication to addressing unemployment through unprecedented recruitment drives and skill development programmes. He announced that the government had filled 53,310 posts in just 10 months, setting a national record for job creation in such a short span. Speaking to the media after reviewing preparations for the Praja Palana Vijayotsavam Sabha in Peddapalli, Reddy highlighted that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy would distribute appointment letters to 9,000 individuals at the event on December four. Among the recipients are 8,143 Group-IV candidates, 442 Civil Assistant Surgeons, and newly recruited employees of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL). The event, which marks the Congress government’s first year in office, will also showcase key achievements, including the launch of the Digital Employment Exchange, agreements with skill development agencies, and the announcement of several initiatives worth hundreds of crores. Reddy praised SCCL’s performance, noting the creation of 2,165 jobs and the distribution of a 33 percent profit-sharing bonus of Rs 1.90 lakh per worker. Additionally, contract workers received a Rs 5,000 bonus for the first time, reflecting the government’s focus on worker welfare. Highlighting reforms in recruitment, Reddy pointed out the transparency introduced into the process, which has led to filling critical vacancies across sectors such as education, healthcare and public services. In education, 8,304 teaching positions were filled in residential societies, while 10,006 posts under DSC were completed. In healthcare, 6,956 staff were recruited through the Medical and Health Recruitment Board.
The Telangana Public Service Commission (TSPSC) also filled 3,393 posts, and the government successfully conducted the Group-I examination after a 13-year gap. On skill development, Reddy announced the establishment of the Young India Skill University in Ranga Reddy district, supported by Rs 100 crore in funding. The university, in collaboration with Tata Technologies and other industry leaders, will offer advanced training in logistics, e-commerce, and healthcare. The government is also setting up Advanced Technology Centres in 65 ITIs and planning a Young India Sports University to train athletes for global competitions. To further enhance education, Rs 5,000 crore has been allocated to build 28 integrated residential schools across Telangana, each accommodating 2,500 students. Ambedkar Knowledge Centres, established in all 119 assembly constituencies, are equipping underprivileged youth with resources to prepare for competitive exams. Reddy also emphasized the government’s commitment to agriculture, instructing officials to expedite the paddy procurement process and ensure timely payments to farmers. He directed the disbursement of a Rs 500 per quintal bonus for fine paddy and called for the completion of pending irrigation projects. “The Congress government is making Telangana a hub for education, employment, and holistic development. Our initiatives aim to benefit people across urban and rural areas while driving inclusive progress,” Reddy added.
