Havana, Nov 28 (FN Agency) Cuba is ready for the second term of US President-elect Donald Trump, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said on Thursday, noting that Trump’s previous term was marked by the increase in sanction pressure against the Central American nation. “The results of the US election were a probable scenario for which Cuba was ready. We have vast experience in opposing imperialistic aggression evident in 65 years of Revolution,” Rodriguez Parilla wrote on X. Since 2019, Cuba has been experiencing the intensification of the US blockade initiated by the Trump administration and kept in place by US President Joe Biden.
He called it the “policy of extreme suffocation,” condemned by the majority of the global community, he added. “As we have always done, we will maintain our warm relationship with US people and readiness for equal-footed dialogue with the US government despite totally asymmetrical bilateral relations and the blockade imposed on us 62 years ago,” the post read. Trump, who was already in office after the 2016 election, won the November 5 presidential election, making him the first US leader since the 19th century to return to the White House after a four-year hiatus.
