Rahul, Priyanka attend rally as Wayanad Lok Sabha campaign ends

Wayanad, Nov 12 (Representative) AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, fighting her maiden poll battle, addressed her final rally with her brother and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi as the campaign ended for the parliamentary by-election to the Wayanad constituency on Monday. United Democratic Front (UDF) backed Congress candidate Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi attended two mass rallies at Sulthan Bathery in the morning and Thiruvambady in the evening. The Thiruvambady rally ended around 6 pm, as hundreds of UDF workers thronged both roadshows. The first roadshow began from Assumption church at Sulthan Bathery in the morning and ended at Chungam junction around the afternoon, while the second event at Thiruvambady began around 3 pm and ended around 6 pm. Rahul attended the rallies wearing a white coloured banian on the back of which was written “I Love Wayanad”, while Priyanka wore a blue saree in both the events.

Rahul Gandhi said “I would like to challenge Priyanka Gandhi to make Wayanad the best tourism destination in the world. I am also helping to achieve it and this will benefit the economic development of the people of Wayanad”. , Addressing the roadshow at Sulthan bathery town. he said the people of Wayanad taught him that the word love has a great place in politics. Love and affection are the only weapons to defeat the hatred and anger among the people”. Meanwhile, Priyanka said “I didn’t feel tired even after campaigning, because of the love that people of Wayanad have showered on me and my brother Rahul Gandhi. The people of Wayanad helped Rahul Gandhi during his difficult time,” she said, adding “I know that Rahul was very sad to leave Wayanad, but he is fully happy now because his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been continuing in his place to serve the people of Wayanad”.

Priyanka said, “I will come up with a better plan for the development of the agricultural and tourism sectors, so the people should give me a chance to return the love you give me.” She also said, “I will not kneel before anyone, and I will be back soon to Wayanad.” She also used some Malayalam words while addressing the gathering at Sulthan Bathery and Thiruvambady. LDF candidate Sathyan Mokeri and BJP candidate Navya Haridas also conducted road shows at Sulthan Bathery and Kalpetta respectively as part of the finale, and a large number of their supporters thronged to attend the events. The election will be held on November 13.
