Brisbane/New Delhi, Nov 4 (FN Agency) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday formally inaugurated the new Indian consulate in Brisbane, and said it will contribute to strengthening India’s ties with Queensland state. In a post on X, the EAM said he also met with Jeannette Young, the Governor of Queensland who attended the inauguration. “Delighted to formally inaugurate new Consulate General of India in Brisbane today. “It will contribute to strengthening India’s ties with Queensland state, promoting trade, fostering educational linkages and serving the diaspora. “Thank H.E Dr. Jeannette Young, Governor of Queensland and Ministers@Ros_Bates_MP and @FionaSimpsonMP for joining the inauguration ceremony.”
Later, he held a meeting with the Queensland governor Jeannette Young and discussed ways to strengthen the economic and trade cooperation with India. “Pleased to meet H.E Dr. Jeannette Young, Governor of Queensland, in Brisbane today. “Discussed opportunities and ways to strengthen economic, trade and investment cooperation with the Queensland state.” The EAM also offered tribute at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. “Offered my tribute this morning to Mahatma Gandhi at Roma Street Parklands in Brisbane. “His message of peace and harmony resonate through the world.”
